The Colorado Avalanche will officially open the on-ice portion of its 2010 rookie orientation camp on Tuesday morning at Family Sports Center.
A total of 20 players will take part in the camp, participating in off-ice workouts and brief on-ice sessions from Sept. 14-16.
The rookie orientation camp will feature 15 Avalanche draft picks, including first-round picks Joey Hishon
(17th overall, 2010) and Kevin Shattenkirk (14th overall, 2007) and second-round selections Colby Cohen (45th overall, 2007), Stefan Elliott
(49th overall, 2009), Cameron Gaunce
(50th overall, 2008) and Calvin Pickard

The Avalanche will then begin its 2010 training camp on Sept. 17, with veterans reporting for medical and physical tests. The full squad will be on the ice for two days, Saturday, Sept. 18 and Sunday, Sept. 19 at the South Suburban Family Sports Center. Practices and scrimmages will take place in the morning from roughly 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All sessions are open to the public at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
