J.C. Beaudin 2017 development camp practice

J.C. Beaudin was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the third round (71st overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft after spending the 2014-15 season with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
He recorded 215 points (77 goals, 138 assists) in 195 career contests in the QMJHL over the course of three seasons. In 2015-16, Beaudin finished second on the Huskies in scoring with 82 points (33 goals, 49 assists) in 58 games, helping the team to its first-ever QMJHL championship.

He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Avalanche on March 6, 2017 and split last season between the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League and the ECHL's Colorado Eagles. He skated in 34 AHL contests, tallying seven points (two goals, five assists). Beaudin also recorded 27 points (seven goals, 20 assists) in 30 games with the Eagles in the regular season before adding 18 points (10 goals, eight assists) in 22 playoff outings to help Colorado win the Kelly Cup.
He recently sat down with ColoradoAvalanche.com to talk about his favorite hockey memories, his playing style and the upcoming season.
What is your favorite hockey memory?
"Winning the QMJHL championship two years ago was for sure some of the best memories of my life."
What were some of the things that made it so great?
"We played at home, so the crowd stayed for around 30 minutes after we won. It's a small rink so the atmosphere was great. Great memory."
What are some of your strengths on the ice?
"I have a great hockey IQ. I think that's my biggest asset."
What are some things you are working on?
"I'm fast, but I just need to make my plays a little quicker to be harder to play against."
What NHL player would you compare yourself to?
"I don't compare myself to him, but I would like to play like Patrice Bergeron in Boston--a great two-way guy. He's a winner so I mold my game around him."
What is your pregame routine?
"I stretch a lot. I usually play some soccer for a little bit with the boys, but I'm not a big routine guy. I just go with how I feel and what I need."
Do you have any superstitions?
"No, not really. I used to have some but not anymore."
What are some things you're excited to do in Colorado?
"Getting into the mountains for sure. I was here last summer--I spent about two months here--so I'm used to the area a little bit. A good hike is super nice in Colorado."
Do you have any favorite hikes?
"I like Deer Creek. Its only 25 minutes away and has a lot of pretty views. It's not too hard."
