O'Reilly Shines At Canada's Junior Camp

by Brendan McNicholas / Colorado Avalanche
Colorado Avalanche prospect Ryan O’Reilly led all skaters with four points (2g/2a) in two scrimmages over the weekend at Canada’s National Junior Team Development Camp in Saskatoon, Sask.

O’Reilly collected a goal and an assist in Team White’s 5-2 victory over Team Red on Saturday, and added another goal and assist in White’s 5-3 loss to wrap up the camp on Sunday.

The Clinton, Ontario native was one of four Avalanche players competing at the camp, all of whom skated for Team White. Forward Kelsey Tessier posted two assists—one in each game—and defenseman Cameron Gaunce scored a goal in Sunday’s loss.  Matt Duchene did not get on the scoresheet.

The National Junior Team Development Camp is used as a barometer for selecting players to represent Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship. The 2010 World Juniors will be held from Dec. 26, 2009 to Jan. 5, 2010 in Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan.
