Olver's Goal Named Play Of The Week

by Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
Forward Mark Olver earned Avalanche "Play of the Week" honors for the March 11-17 timeframe with his first career NHL goal.

Olver's tally earned 51.47% of the vote, beating out a Brian Elliott save against Vancouver (25.02%) and a Ryan O'Reilly goal versus Anaheim (23.51%).

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Olver’s First Goal – 3/17 @ Calgary
Forward Mark Olver netted his first career NHL goal against the Flames. With the Avalanche down two goals, the rookie received a nice pass from linemate Matt Duchene and moved the puck to his backhand to gain a better angle before burying a shot past Calgary goalie Miikka Kiprusoff.
