by Aaron Lopez / Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche needed overtime, but edged the St. Louis Blues by a 2-1 score Sunday night at Pepsi Center. Milan Hejduk netted the game-winner just 48 seconds into the extra session to propel the home team to the win.

-Peter Budaj received the start in goal for the Avalanche tonight and stopped 24 shots, including 12 in the first period, to pick up the victory.

-Each of the three goaltenders remaining on Colorado’s preseason roster have now played a full exhibition game. Craig Anderson started the club’s preseason opener, a 3-1 win over Dallas on Thursday, while Tyler Weiman was between the pipes during Friday’s 6-2 loss in St. Louis.

-With six minutes remaining in the first period, Hejduk found himself on a short-handed breakaway, but was stopped by Blues netminder Ty Conklin.

-Matt Duchene played one of the point slots on the Avalanche’s power play unit tonight. On Colorado’s final two power plays, Duchene was joined by John-Michael Liles on the blueline, while Marek Svatos, Paul Stastny and Milan Hejduk skated up front.

-Cody McLeod and Ryan Reaves dropped the gloves immediately following a faceoff with 2:26 remaining in the first period. Both players landed several hard shots before wrestling one another to the ice.

-T.J. Galiardi netted his first goal of the preseason 3:09 into the third period. The forward received a pass from Darcy Tucker at the right faceoff dot, contorted his body and got off a wrister that beat Conklin far side.
