The North Americans continued their torrent of goalscoring when they came out swinging on Sunday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. The under-23 team tallied five times in the opening stanza-Aaron Ekblad (2), Dylan Larkin, Morgan Rielly and Johnny Gaudreau-to take a 5-1 lead by the 16-minute mark of the period.
Team Europe retaliated with the next three markers, two coming in the middle frame from Marian Gaborik and one to start the third period from Frans Nielsen, to make it an interesting 5-4 contest.
Gaudreau and Larkin weren't done though, and each scored once more in the final ten minutes to help their club take a 7-4 victory in its second pre-tournament matchup.
Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon factored into the scoring for Team North America yet again, registering two assists, one shot and a plus-three rating through 17:04 of playing time-4:41 of which was on the power play.
MacKinnon was paired with former Halifax Mooseheads teammate Jonathan Drouin for the contest.
North America concludes its exhibition slate with a game against the Czech Republic on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. MT at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Europeans close out their pre-tournament schedule against the Swedes on Wednesday at 5 p.m. MT at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
