New Burgundy Jersey

The National Hockey League, in conjunction with adidas, unveiled today the Colorado Avalanche's new ADIZERO Authentic NHL sweaters at a special event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The new uniform harkens back to Colorado's inaugural concept while featuring a modern take on the iconic jersey.

The adidas design team worked closely with the Avs to create a new iteration of the classic look, which includes the signature hemlines portraying the picturesque Rocky Mountain landscape. Gone are the small black and white detail accents, which have been replaced with a bolder trim of silver to pay homage to the state's history in the silver mining industry.
The new uniform features the Colorado-inspired "C" mark on the shoulders as a reference to the franchise's home state flag, and the number system is influenced by the original font but provides a clearer arena and broadcast experience.

The Avalanche's sweater colors remain both burgundy and blue for home contests and white and burgundy for away games. Similar to when Reebok released the RBK Edge jerseys, the color scheme is based on the local panorama, including the lush earthy tone of the red rocks to the west, the deep blue sky visible most days out of the year and the myriad of snow-capped peaks that line the horizon.

According to adidas, the new uniform was also constructed using modern technology in order to make it lighter, cooler and stronger out on the ice.
"Featuring new cresting materials and construction technology, the ADIZERO Authentic NHL jersey reduces crest weight by up to 46%…in order to deliver a new jersey that is up to 19% lighter when compared to the current NHL Jersey.
"The ADIZERO Authentic NHL jersey features adidas Clima® technology in each of the jersey fabrics to deliver breathability and enhanced performance. Combining moisture management technology and a streamlined silhouette to maximize air flow circulation with materials that are up to 133% more permeable than fabrics currently used on ice allows athletes to be cooler.
"Constructed for durability, the ADIZERO Authentic NHL jersey fabrics are up to 27% stronger in burst testing and up to 72% tougher in abrasion testing compared to the current NHL jersey."
Dan Near, head of adidas Hockey, is excited to see the impact of the new jersey when preseason opens in September.
"Specifically created for elite performance, we've designed the ADIZERO Authentic NHL jerseys to deliver advanced innovation and technical design for the world's best hockey players," he said in a release. "We build products for the creator athlete. Our mission is to help athletes perform better and we look forward to making our on-ice debut this season with the new Lighter, Cooler, and Stronger adidas Hockey ADIZERO Authentic NHL jerseys."
The Avalanche's new sweaters will also be available for purchase in September.
