In a very close competition, Peter Mueller's first goal as a member of the Avalanche beat out a Craig Anderson save for the Avalanche's "Play of the Week."
Out of all the votes cast, only a handful separated Mueller's tally against Anaheim (37.88%) from Anderson's stop on Johan Franzen (35.49%). Paul Stastny's pass to set up a Chris Stewart goal finished with 26.63% of the voting.
The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.
Mueller Scores In Debut – 3/4 @ Anaheim Acquired in a trade with the Phoenix Coyotes just hours earlier, Peter Mueller scored his first Avalanche goal against the Anaheim Ducks. With the Avs applying pressure on a power play, John-Michael Liles kept the play alive by sprawling out to keep the puck in the zone at the blue line. It ended up on the stick of Mueller, who threw a wrister on net from the left point that deflected off Anaheim defenseman James Wisniewski and past netminder Jonas Hiller.
