Jones' OT Winner Named Top Play

by Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
David Jones picked up Avalanche "Play of the Week" honors for his overtime winner against the Buffalo Sabres on Jan. 4.

Jones' goal (46.21%) topped T.J. Galiardi's rainbow pass to set up a Daniel Winnik goal during that same contest (29.55%), as well as Winnik's tally on Dec. 31 against the Calgary Flames (24.24%)

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Jones Ends It In OT – 1/4 vs Buffalo
David Jones played the role of hero against Buffalo when he netted his first career overtime goal. Tomas Fleischmann took a pass from Ryan Wilson at the blue line, carried the puck into the zone and baited defenseman Shaone Morrisonn into dropping to the ice. Fleischmann then skated around the prone blueliner and fed Jones, who one-timed it past Ryan Miller for the game-winning goal.
