David Jones' tally on Dec. 29 versus Nashville was named the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" for the Dec. 26-Jan. 1 time period. The goal, Jones' sixth of the season, received 51.44% of fan voting.
Jones beat out Wojtek Wolski's shootout goal against Detroit (35.89%) and Peter Budaj's stops on Brad Stuart and Valtteri Filppula (12.67%).
The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans.
Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.
Jones Sticks To It - 12/29 vs. Nashville If at first you don’t succeed, simply put a shot on net. Forward David Jones carried the puck up the right boards and worked his way around a Nashville defender before trying to make a pass to Wolski during a 2-on-1. The puck never got there, hitting off the stick of Nashville’s Shea Weber and coming right back to Jones, who notched his sixth goal of the year.
