The Colorado Avalanche announced today that the club has loaned forward T.J. Hensick to the American Hockey League’s Lake Erie Monsters for a conditioning assignment.
Hensick has dressed in 44 of Colorado’s 50 games since being recalled from Lake Erie on Nov. 6, but was held out of three games (Feb. 20-24) on Colorado’s current road trip before returning to the ice on Thursday in New Jersey.
Prior to his recall, Hensick was leading the Monsters with 13 points (6g/7a) through 10 games.
Liles Probable In other news from today’s skate, defenseman John-Michael Liles (wrist) practiced with the team and is being listed as probable for Saturday’s contest against the New York Rangers (5:00 p.m. MT/Altitude TV).
Liles has not played since suffering the injury on Feb. 15 at Detroit, but continues to lead all Avalanche defensemen in goals (7), assists (21) and points (28).
Budaj to Face Rangers Goaltender Peter Budaj will get the start when the Avs take on the Rangers tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden. The Slovakia native has faced the Rangers once in his career, picking up the victory in Colorado’s 4-3 overtime win in Denver on Dec. 21, 2007.
Saturday will mark the only meeting between the Avalanche and Rangers this season. Colorado has come out victorious in its last seven matchups with New York.
