The Colorado Avalanche will celebrate the opening of its 2008-09 season when the club hosts the Boston Bruins Thursday (Oct. 9) at Pepsi Center (8:00 p.m.).
Fans hoping to be part of the festivities are encouraged to purchase tickets for opening night today.

Everyone in attendance will receive a free flag commemorating the opening night of the 2008-09 campaign, compliments of Qwest.
The stars will also be out in full force on Thursday evening, as the Avalanche will honor the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame’s Class of 2008 – Cammi Granato, Brett Hull, Brian Leetch and Mike Richter – prior to opening faceoff. The four players represent one of the most storied classes to ever be inducted into the Eveleth, Minn., based Hall of Fame.
Beginning in 1973, the Hall has honored and recognized outstanding coaches, players, builders and administrators who have contributed to the success and promotion of American Hockey.
The Avalanche is advising its fans to be seated by 8:00 p.m.
in order to view the on-ice event.
The quartet will officially be inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame the following night (Oct. 10) in a ceremony at Magness Arena on the campus of the University of Denver.
The event is not sold out, but tickets need to be purchased by Wednesday, Oct. 8. Tickets are available by calling USA Hockey at 719-538-1184.
