Coming off of three days of rest, the Colorado Avalanche opens up a back-to-back set with Wednesday night's matchup featuring the visiting Los Angeles Kings at Ball Arena with puck drop starting at 7:30 p.m. MT.

This is the third and final matchup between these two clubs this season - the Avalanche previously have taken home four points between Jan. 20 with a 4-1 win and March 15 as they shut out the Kings 3-0. The Avs wrapped up their ninth back-to-back set of the season over the weekend against Winnipeg and Edmonton and are now 7-1-1 in the second game of such sets.
After tonight's faceoff, the Colorado Avalanche will continue its four game homestand the second leg of their back-to-back on Thursday night against the New Jersey Devils.


COLORADO-LOS ANGELES CONNECTIONS

Avalanche assistant coach Ray Bennett spent seven years as an assistant coach for the Kings (1999-2006)… Kings General Manager Rob Blake played parts of five seasons with Colorado, and was a fixture of the Stanley Cup team in 2001… Los Angeles forward Brendan Lemieux was born in Denver and is the son of former Avalanche player Claude Lemieux, who played in Colorado from 1995-1999… Kings center Trevor Moore played at the University of Denver from 2013-2016 where he was teammates with Logan O'Connor for the 2015-16 season… L.A. defenseman Christian Wolanin is the son of Craig Wolanin, who was on the Avs' Stanley Cup team in 1996.


HISTORY

Currently, Colorado holds a 66-66-7 record against the Kings. This mark improves to 37-29-2 at home and sits at 29-37-5 on the road.
This is the third and final matchup between the two teams this season. The first game ended as a 4-1 win for the Avs on a back-to-back in Los Angeles. Colorado is hosting the Kings for the first time this season to close the regular-season series.

The King are continuing their very own set of a road set of back-to-back games on Wednesday. Los Angeles scored five times in the Windy City on Tuesday night to pull out two points in their 5-2 win against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Los Angeles is third in the Pacific Division, two points behind the second-place Edmonton Oilers.
