The Colorado Avalanche will have four prospects competing at Canada’s National Junior Team Development Camp, which opens Wednesday (Aug. 5) in Saskatoon, Sask.

Matt Duchene, Cameron Gaunce, Ryan O’Reilly and Kelsey Tessier will be among the 45 participants at the camp, which runs through Aug. 10.  The event will finish with the Red/White scrimmages on Saturday and Sunday, with all four Avalanche players skating for Team White.

The National Junior Team Development Camp is used as a barometer for selecting players to represent Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship. The 2010 World Juniors will be held from Dec. 26, 2009 to Jan. 5, 2010 in Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan.

Willie Desjardins, head coach of the Western Hockey League’s Medicine Hat Tigers, will serve as head coach of the 2010 Canadian National Junior Team.
