"It’s definitely big shoes to fill coming after Joe Sakic. I was with him a long time, I was with the organization a long time and I was able to learn a lot of him and some other great leaders that have been in this dressing room. It’s an honor and a challenge, and I'm ready for it."
On Having Previous Experience As A Captain... "You have a duty, you have a job to do, but you try not to overcomplicate it or do too much. You just carry yourself, try to carry yourself the same way. Be there for support for the guys., very positive for the younger guys. If you are fortunate enough to be around the league for a long time, you usually see every situation so you bring your experience in there really to help the young guys get through some different stages they may go through. Again, just try to keep it simple."
On If He'll Need To Do Things Differently Now... "No. I learned a lot off Joe, Patrick Roy. There’s so many different personalities, characters. I am who I am. I don’t feel I have to speak my mind or emasculate guys just to go about my business. Every day the same way. Again if I need to be there for someone, I think I’ll have to go help a young guy or even older guy well. I’ll just be supportive of them."
On Finding Out About The Captaincy... "I found out Joe (Sacco) when we talked about a week ago. We had a long conversation, and he asked me I would be captain. We went from there."
