The Lake Erie Monsters were handed a pair of losses last week, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Houston Aeros on Friday (Nov. 14) before being handed a 5-3 loss by the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday.
Tom Fritsche notched Lake Erie’s lone goal on Friday and Tyler Weiman was saddled with the loss despite making 23 saves.
Kyle Cumiskey, Raymond Macias and Peder Skinner each scored their first goal of the season in Sunday’s loss to Hartford. Chris Durno chipped in with two assists for the Monsters, while Jason Bacashihua stopped 32-of-37 shots.
The Monsters will face the defending Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves on Wednesday (Nov. 19) before hosting Manchester and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to wrap up the club’s six-game homestand.Johnstown Chiefs
The Johnstown Chiefs – Colorado’s ECHL affiliate – rounded out a busy week with three victories in four games. Johnstown topped the Cincinnati Cyclones by a 7-4 count on Wednesday before earning wins over the Trenton Devils (6-2) and Dayton Bombers (4-1) on Friday and Saturday, respectively. opened the scoring in a 2-2 tie with Michigan Tech University on Saturday and then notched a power-play goal and added an assist in Sunday’s rematch, a 3-0 Gophers’ victory. The junior now has 16 points (9g/7a) in 10 games.
Mike Carman added an assist Sunday in Minnesota’s win, which helped vault the Gophers (6-0-4) to the No. 1 ranking in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll.
-Justin Mercier scored a power-play goal on Friday in Miami (Ohio) University’s 5-1 win over Michigan State University. Mercier then notched a goal and one assist the following evening as the RedHawks topped the Spartans by a 3-1 count.
-University of North Dakota forward Brad Malone
notched an unassisted goal to seal a 3-1 win over the University of Alaska Anchorage on Saturday. It was Malone’s first point of the season and the second tally of the sophomore’s collegiate career.
-Mark Olver recorded an assist in both of Northern Michigan University’s contests against Bowling Green State University over the weekend, but the Wildcats were handed a pair of 2-1 losses.
-Boston College winger Paul Carey
tallied an assist Friday in a 5-5 tie with Merrimack College and then potted a goal and an assist in an 8-6 win over the University of New Hampshire on Saturday. The freshman now has six points (3g/3a) in eight contests.
-Billy Sauer stopped 15-of-17 shots against Western Michigan University on Friday, but the University of Michigan dropped a 2-1 decision to the Broncos.QMJHL

-Kelsey Tessier had a big week for the Quebec Remparts, notching seven points (1g/6a) in three games. Tessier started the week with two assists in a 4-2 win over Cape Breton on Wednesday and then scored an unassisted power-play goal on Friday in a 4-3 loss to Moncton. On Sunday the Remparts earned a 5-0 win over Halifax, with Tessier notching four helpers. The center now has 21 points (6g/15a) in 19 games this season.
-Victoriaville’s Joel Chouinard
recorded an assist in the Tigres’ 5-3 loss to Rimouski on Friday. The blueliner has totaled six points (2g/4a) in 22 games.OHL
-Trevor Cann’s trade to the London Knights has worked wonders for both the netminder himself and the team. Cann won all three of his starts last week, including a 19-save shutout against Guelph on Sunday, to run his record to a perfect 5-0-0 with London. The goaltender is carrying a 1.77 goals-against average and .933% save percentage with the Knights.
Kevin Montgomery has been just as crucial to the Knights’ recent success, having totaled 10 points (1g/9a) in six games since returning to London. The defenseman recorded a goal and five assists in three games this past weekend.

led the Majors to a 5-2 triumph over Sudbury two nights later by tallying the game-winning goal and adding an assist. USHL
