Farm Report: Jones Extends Point Streak

Forward David Jones led the Lake Erie Monsters to a 2-1 victory over the San Antonio Rampage Friday (Feb. 1) evening in Cleveland with a pair of goals. Jones notched a power-play marker in the second period to even the game and then scored the game-winner with 5:56 remaining in the contest. The goals extended Jones’ point streak to 10 games (7g/7a), while Lake Erie netminder Michael Wall stopped 25-of-26 shots to earn the victory.

The Monsters lost the first end of back-to-back contests against the Rampage the previous night, dropping a 4-3 overtime decision. Jones, Wyatt Smith and Philippe Dupuis notched a goal apiece for the Monsters.

-Brandon Yip recorded a goal, while Kevin Shattenkirk and Colby Cohen notched an assist apiece in Boston University’s 4-1 victory over Merrimack on Friday. Shattenkirk then erupted for three assists and Cohen added a helper of his own in the Terriers’ 4-3 overtime loss to Boston College Monday in the opening round of the Beanpot tournament.

-Ohio State University forward Tom Fritsche tallied two assists as the Buckeyes split a pair of contests with Bowling Green State University over the weekend. The senior ranks third on the team with 16 points (4g/12) in 29 contests.

-University of Michigan goaltender Billy Sauer stopped 21-of-24 shots in the Wolverines’ 3-3 tie with Northern Michigan University Friday evening.

-Nigel Williams scored his 10th goal of the season Thursday in Belleville’s 6-4 loss to the Sarnia Sting. The defenseman now owns 34 points (10g/24a) in 50 games this season.

-Kevin Montgomery recorded an empty-net goal to cement the London Knights’ 6-4 win over Belleville on Friday night. Montgomery leads all London defensemen with 33 points (7g/26a).

-Trevor Cann picked up a victory in his only game of the week by stopping 35-of-37 shots in Peterborough’s 5-2 win over the Niagara IceDogs Thursday. Cann improved his record to 16-21-0-2 with a .903 save percentage.

-Calgary forward T.J. Galiardi totaled seven points (1g/6a) in four games last week. Galiardi started out the week by recording a goal and two assists in Calgary’s 5-1 win over the Kootenay Ice and also recorded a multi-point game with two assists during a 4-0 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings. Galiardi ranks second in the WHL in rookie scoring with 54 points (14g/40a) in 56 games.

-Goaltender Ian Keserich stopped 31-of-32 shots to earn the victory in Mississippi’s 4-1 win over Corpus Christi on Thursday, improving his record to 4-0 since joining the RiverKings. Keserich then made 25 saves in Mississippi’s 5-4 overtime setback against Laredo the following night. In five games with the RiverKings, Keserich has posted a 1.98 goals-against average with a .933 save percentage.

-Indiana Ice forward Paul Carey scored a goal to help lead Team RBK to a 6-5 shootout victory over Team CCM in the USHL Prospects/All-Star Game last Tuesday. Following the All-Star Break, Carey chipped in with two assists as the Ice earned a pair of 2-1 victories over the Chicago Steel last weekend.
