Duchene's Goal Named Top Play

by Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
Matt Duchene earned Avalanche Play of the Week honors for the fourth time in five weeks, with his game-tying goal against the Detroit Red Wings gaining the most votes this time around.

Duchene's tally (45.08%) beat out Milan Hejduk's shootout winner against Edmonton (38.53%) and Peter Budaj's stop on Niklas Kronwall (16.39%).

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Duchene Ties Another – 12/27 vs. Detroit
Matt Duchene has been showing a flair for the dramatic recently, scoring a handful of big goals in key situations. It was no different against Detroit, as Duchene fired a shot past Chris Osgood with 2:36 remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime and help the Avalanche gain a crucial point in an eventual 4-3 loss.
