by Staff Writer / Colorado Avalanche
The University of Denver Jr. Pioneers defeated the Boulder Hockey Club Bison 5-1 in the championship game of the 2011 Colorado Avalanche Quebec Qualifier Tournament on Monday night at Pepsi Center.  The Jr. Pioneers are now designated as the Colorado Avalanche Pee Wee team for the 2011-12 season and will represent the Avalanche at the 53rd Quebec International Pee Wee Tournament held Feb. 9-19, 2012.

The Quebec International Pee Wee Hockey Tournament is known as the largest and most prestigious Pee Wee tournament in the world.  It hosts 110 teams of 11-12 year-old hockey players from over 16 countries each year.

This is the 10th year that the Colorado Avalanche has selected a Pee Wee representative, and the first time that DU has earned the title.  In 10 years of sending a team to Quebec, six different Colorado youth hockey associations have represented the Avalanche.
