Joonas Donskoi and Nazem Kadri both found the back of the net twice to help the digital Colorado Avalanche earn a 6-3 victory against the San Jose Sharks at virtual Pepsi Center on Wednesday in a simulated game of EA Sports' NHL 20.
Donskoi scored his first with a quick release from the right circle at 6:34 of the first period and netted his second from the slot in the middle frame. Kadri recorded his first marker in the opening stanza to give the Avalanche a 3-1 advantage after San Jose's Logan Couture scored an unassisted goal. Kadri tallied again 23 seconds after Brent Burns found twine midway through the second period to extend Colorado's lead to 6-2.
Tyson Jost assisted on each of Donskoi's tallies, while Samuel Girard collected a helper on both of Kadri's markers. Mikko Rantanen also had a multi-point effort with a goal and an assist, and Nathan MacKinnon scored in the contest as well.
Forwards Andre Burakovsky, Gabriel Landeskog and Vladislav Namestnikov and defensemen Ian Cole, Cale Makar, Erik Johnson and Ryan Graves each picked up an assist in the win.
Digital Philipp Grubauer was back in the crease for Colorado and made 28-of-31 saves while Aaron Dell stopped 27 shots for San Jose. Both teams went 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
The Avs continue their virtual outings on Wednesday when they face the Calgary Flames in another NHL 20 simulated matchup.
