Development Camp Underway

by Staff Writer / Colorado Avalanche
A total of 15 players will be in attendance from July 7-12 when the Colorado Avalanche holds its annual player development camp. The camp will be held at the team’s practice facility in Centennial, Colo., with the first day of on-ice drills set for Thursday, July 9.

Colorado’s 2009 development camp will incorporate both on-ice and off-ice training for the players.

Camp participants include five of the Avalanche’s picks from the 2009 NHL Entry Draft (Matt Duchene, Ryan O’Reilly, Stefan Elliott, Tyson Barrie and Brandon Maxwell), along with eight player who took part in last year’s camp (Trevor Cann, Joel Chouinard, Peter Delmas, Cameron Gaunce, Kent Patterson, Kevin Shattenkirk, Kelsey Tessier and Kevin Montgomery).

The development camp roster is rounded out by forwards Ryan Stoa and Cedric McNicoll, both of whom signed entry-level contracts with the Avalanche on March 27, 2009.

Players are currently scheduled to be on the ice Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings, and fans are encouraged to watch at no cost.
