Cumiskey Earns Play of the Week Honors

by - Official Site of the Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
Defenseman Kyle Cumiskey earned "Avalanche Play of the Week" honors for the Jan. 15-21 timeframe following the first of his two goals against the Edmonton Oilers on Jan. 18.

Cumiskey's tally received 54.62% of fan votes, topping a late-game stand by netminder Craig Anderson (24.09%) and a goal by Chris Stewart (21.29%).

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Cumiskey’s First Of Two – 1/18 vs. Edmonton
Kyle Cumiskey recorded his first career multi-goal effort against the Oilers. On this play, the defenseman picked up the puck at center ice and raced into the offensive zone before backhanding a pass over to Paul Stastny. Stastny made a quick return feed to Cumiskey, who tapped it in for his first goal of the evening.
