Rapid Recap: Senators 6, Avalanche 5
The Colorado Avalanche continued their road trip through Canada with a 5-6 loss against the Ottawa Senators. This is the last time the Avalanche will face the Senators this season.

Darren Helm opened the scoring early in the game with a goal less than two minutes into the first.
The Ottawa Senators answered back quickly with two goals within thirty seconds of each other to gain the lead. After letting up a goal at the end of the first, Ottawa ran away with the game in the second to extend their lead by three goals.
The Avalanche fought back with three straight goals from Alex Newhook, Tyson Jost and Devon Toews to force overtime late in the game.
Brady Tkachuk closed the game in overtime, forcing a turnover and scoring on a breakaway.
THE GOALS
1st Period
18:34 COL (1-0) - After a clearing attempt by the Senators, Darren Helm intercepted puck at the half boards and chipped it up the Alex Newhook who battled through two Ottawa defensemen to make a pass down low in the slot to Helm who made a backhand move passed the glove of Anton Forsberg.
14:32 OTT (1-1) - Following an offensive zone turnover, Thomas Chabot picked up the puck and passed up through the neutral zone to Tim Stutzle who entered the zone and found a trailing Brady Tkachuk who took a quick wrist shot glove side on Johansson.
14:03 OTT (1-2) - Intercepting the puck at half ice, Dylan Gambrell skated into the zone on the left wing in an odd-man rush to find Austin Watson who had slipped passed the Avalanche defensemen for a backdoor tap in goal.
11:41 COL (2-2) - Following an offensive zone faceoff win, Nathan MacKinnon passed the puck to the point to Devon Toews who made a D-to-D exchange with Andre Burakovsky who returned the puck to Toews. Toews then found MacKinnon on the half boards who returned the puck back to Toews again for a one-timer that was tipped in front by Gabriel Landeskog.
2nd Period
18:47 OTT (2-3) - Nick Paul chipped the puck up the neutral zone to Connor Brown who found a flying Tim Stutzle who was in alone on Johansson and was hit my Jack Johnson. Stutzle and Johnson went sliding into Johansson and after the reviewing the play, the goal was called.
17:11 OTT (2-4) - After an offensive zone win and some passed around the point, Thomas Chabot took a shot through traffic which was saved by Johansson and swatted at by Brady Tkachuk which forced the puck out to Josh Norris who took a quick shot through the scramble and in the net.
12:14 OTT (2-5) - Stripping the puck from an Avalanche forward, Josh Norris made a short pass to Drake Batherson who immediately made a cross-ice pass to Tim Stutzle who made a few stick handle moves to patiently wait for an opportunity make a wrist shot passed the glove of Justus Annunen.
10:23 COL (3-5) - Following a neutral zone mix up from the Senators, Alex Newhook picked up the loose puck and turned on the jets to walk around a Senators defenseman and score top shelf over the shoulder of Forsberg.
3rd Period
18:08 COL (4-5) - Nathan MacKinnon walked the puck up towards the blue line and passed to Jack Johnson who returned the puck back to MacKinnon for a quick wrist shot that Tyson Jost was able to tip down and between the legs of Forsberg.
1:20 COL (5-5) - Moments after pulling Justus Annunen for an extra attacker, Devon Toews made a pass down to Nathan MacKinnon who returned the puck to Toews for another one-timer goal that flew through traffic and passed Forsberg.
Overtime
4:09 OTT (5-6) Brady Tkachuk forced a turnover after a failed Avalanche pass which he carried in all alone on Annunen for a quick shot to win the game.

ROSTER REPORT
The Avalanche has recalled Jacob MacDonald from the Colorado Eagles Dec. 3. Justus Annunen was recalled from the Colorado Eagles on Wednesday, Dec. 1, and quickly joined the team on the road trip. Kurtis MacDermid has rejoined the starting lineup as a defenseman, his last appearance was at home against the Nashville Predators.
INJURY UPDATE
Bowen Byram is out due to an upper-body injury. Darcy Kuemper is out due to an upper-body injury sustained in practice before Wednesday's game. Ryan Murray is out indefinitely after exiting the game on Nov. 27 against the Nashville Predators with a lower-body injury. J.T. Compher continues to be out for an upper-body injury. Stefan Matteau is still out after sustaining a lower-body injury on Oct. 16.
