Colo. Springs Jr. Tigers Win Quebec Qualifier

The Colorado Springs Jr. Tigers and Littleton Hawks faced-off Monday night in the championship game of the 2008 Colorado Avalanche Quebec Qualifier Tournament at Pepsi Center.  After a highly competitive game, the Jr. Tigers came out on top, 3-2,  designating them as the Colorado Avalanche Pee Wee team for the 2008-09 Season.  The team will receive the opportunity to represent the Avalanche in the 50th Quebec International Pee Wee Tournament in February 2009.


The Quebec International Pee Wee Hockey Tournament is known as the largest and most prestigious Pee Wee tournament in the world. It hosts 110 teams of Pee Wee hockey players from over 14 countries each year.

The Quebec Qualifier Tournament began play at Westminster Promenade Ice Center on October 24th then moved to Pepsi Center for quarterfinal, semifinal and championship play.  This year’s tournament was especially competitive with all of the teams vying for a chance to take part in the historic 50th anniversary of the Quebec tournament. Participating teams were:
   
-Arapahoe Warriors
-Arvada Storm
-Boulder Bison
-Colorado Hockey Club Rampage
-Colorado Springs Jr. Tigers
-Denver University Jr. Pioneers
-Foothills Flyers
-Front Range Panthers
-Hyland Hills Jaguars
-Littleton Hawks
-Northern Colorado Jr. Eagles

The new Avalanche Pee Wee team will now begin preparation for their Quebec trip. The team will be introduced at an upcoming Avalanche game and also have the chance to practice at the Avalanche practice facility with a few Avs players.
