Bill Doyle Homecoming Surprise

There was a very special reveal during the Colorado Avalanche's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Navy Chief Petty Officer William Doyle returned from a year-long deployment in Africa to his unexpecting son and two daughters. It was Star Wars night at Pepsi Center, and he surprised his three children who were participating in a "Guess The Star Wars Character" game during the first period.

He was disguised in a Jedi costume and when it came time for his kids to guess the character, they were surprised to see their father as the cloak was removed.

His children, Grant (11), Grace (9) and Gabby (8), correctly guessed the Storm Trooper and Princess Leia before their father walked out in his cover. Grant speculated that the character was a Jedi, and when Chief Petty Officer Doyle revealed his face, he instantly jumped into his father's arms.
Chief Petty Officer Doyle has been deployed three times, including tours to the Middle East and on submarines. He has served in the military for 16 years and has received the Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal.
The Colorado Avalanche learned of his story when Jill Doyle nominated her husband of 15 years for the King Soopers Hero of the Game.
Jill was recognized later in the game as the King Soopers Hero of the Game. She has been a super mom while her husband has been deployed, balancing life with three children and being a school teacher at Buena Vista Montessori in Colorado Springs.
