The "Celebration of Hockey in Colorado” will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24, as part of the Colorado Avalanche's 20th Anniversary Season presented by Avaya and Arrow Electronics.
The Avs will wear their new third jerseys during that night's contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Pepsi Center, and several former Colorado Rockies hockey players from the 1976-1982 NHL team, including Lanny McDonald and Barry Beck, will be signing autographs from 5:30–6:30 p.m.
Those players will also be honored during a special pregame ceremony.
During the intermissions, the impact of the Avalanche organization throughout the region and community will be highlighted.
Representatives from over 50 youth hockey associations and over 40 high school teams will be recognized during the first intermission, demonstrating the expansion of youth and adult leagues statewide.
The second intermission will be dedicated to the influence that the Avalanche and Kroenke Sports Charities has had in the community since 1995, having raised over $16 million to support community programs.
The Avalanche will also look back at how some fans have shared their personal lives and built lasting relationships with the team and organization.
Pepsi Center doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. puck drop.
Tickets to the game can be purchased online at ColoradoAvalanche.com or by calling (866) 461-6556. Tickets can also be purchased at the Pepsi Center box office.
