Canada faces Sweden and fellow Avs prospect Adam Werner in the semifinals on Wednesday at the Bell Centre. Canada is ranked number one in scoring efficiency and power-play conversion while Sweden comes in second.
The last time the two teams met in an elimination round was in 2009 in the gold medal match in Ottawa. The Canadians skated away with a 5-1 win.

SWEDEN - 8 vs. SLOVAKIA - 3

Sweden continued its playoff run after a dominating 8-3 win over Slovakia on Monday at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.
Sweden took a commanding 3-0 lead in the first period, and captain Joel Eriksson Ek and forward Tim Soderlund each collected two markers in the victory. The Swedes have now won 11 straight quarterfinal games and will face host Canada on Wednesday.
Avalanche goaltending prospect Adam Werner did not dress in the competition.
