The Colorado Avalanche will play an exhibition game prior to the start of 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifier against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday, July 29 in Edmonton, Alberta. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. MT, and it will be the first time the Avs will take the ice against an opponent since the NHL paused its season on March 12.

Each of the 24 teams participating in the NHL's Return to Play Plan will take part in one exhibition contest from July 28-30. The Avs' outing is slated as the second of six games on July 29.

Colorado last played Minnesota on Feb. 9 when it took a 3-2 victory over the Wild on the road. Nathan MacKinnon, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Gabriel Landeskog all tallied in the matchup to bring home the win.

The Avs went 2-2-0 against Minnesota during the regular season, also winning 4-2 on Oct. 5 but falling 3-2 on Nov. 21 and 6-4 on Dec. 27.

Colorado will begin the Stanley Cup Playoffs' qualifying round on Aug. 2 against the St. Louis Blues at 4:30 p.m. MT. The Avs will play their second round-robin game on Aug. 5 against the Dallas Stars at 4:30 p.m. MT. The timing of Colorado's third and final qualifier matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights has yet to be announced.
