The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club, in partnership with the University of Denver, will hold its annual Burgundy & White Game at Magness Arena at the Daniel L. Ritchie Center on Friday, September 16 at 6:30pm.
The Burgundy/White Game features the top Avalanche players competing against each other in a full three-period game. Proceeds from the game will benefit the University of Denver's S.A.V.E program, which stands for Sports, Arts, Volunteerism and Education, as well as the Colorado Avalanche Youth Hockey program. The S.A.V.E program was designed to offer unique sports and arts opportunities to the underprivileged and at-risk youth of Denver while placing an emphasis on the importance of education and community service. The past five Burgundy & White Games have generated in excess of $240,000 for youth hockey programs in Colorado.
"We expect this event to be even more popular than it has been in recent years," said Greg Sherman Avalanche Assistant to the General Manager. "This game will give our fans a taste of the new era of Avalanche Hockey. All of our top players will be participating in the game for the full sixty minutes, giving all of our fans a great opportunity to see their favorite Avalanche players while helping in a charitable community initiative."
