DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club, in partnership with the University of Denver, will hold its annual Burgundy & White Game for local charities at Magness Arena at the Daniel L. Ritchie Center on Monday, September 18, at 6:30 p.m.
The Burgundy/White Game features the top Avalanche players competing against each other in a full three-period game. As was the case last year, fans will have the opportunity to witness a shootout at the end of regulation regardless of the score.
Proceeds from the game will benefit the University of Denver's S.A.V.E program, which stands for Sports, Arts, Volunteerism and Education, as well as the Colorado Avalanche Youth Hockey program. The S.A.V.E program was designed to offer unique sports and arts opportunities to the underprivileged and at-risk youth of Denver while placing an emphasis on the importance of education and community service. The past six Burgundy & White Games have generated in excess of $350,000 for youth hockey programs in Colorado.
"This is a huge event to raise money for local charities and we expect it to be as popular as it has been in recent years," said Avalanche Assistant General Manager Greg Sherman. "Once again, this game will give our fans an opportunity to see many of our prospects before the beginning of the exhibition games."
Tickets for the game go on sale beginning on Monday, Aug. 28, at 10:00 a.m. and are available for purchase through Ticket Master at 303/830-TIXS or at either the DU or Pepsi Center box offices. Prices range from $12-35 for the game. For more information, please contact the DU box office at 303/871-2336.
