The votes were tallied and you, the fans, selected Peter Budaj's stop on Chicago forward Patrick Kane as the Avs’ “Play of the Week” for the period of Oct. 31-Nov. 6. Budaj's save received 55.94% of the voting, beating out Cody McCormick's hit on Brent Sopel that same night (21.29%) and John-Michael Liles' tally the previous evening against San Jose (22.13%).
The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans.
Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.
Budaj Denies Kane – 11/3 at Chicago After gathering a cross-ice feed from Martin Havlat, Chicago forward Patrick Kane found himself all alone just to the left of Avalanche netminder Peter Budaj. Despite having a seemingly open net, Kane was robbed by Budaj, who moved right-to-left quick enough to make the stop.
