DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced Wednesday that it has signed forward Andrew Brunette to a one-year contract extension good through the 2007-2008 season.
"Andrew had a very strong season last year," said Avalanche Executive Vice President and General Manager Francois Giguere. "He's been a solid, consistent performer throughout his career and we're looking for much of the same from him over the next two years. He's a gifted athlete and a key contributor to our offense."
Brunette, 33, recorded a career-high 24 goals last season, eclipsing his previous best of 23 with Atlanta in 1999-2000. It was his eighth consecutive season with 10 or more goals. His 63 points ranked third on the club, and was the second highest tally of his career. A veteran of 624 NHL games, Brunette played in all 82 contests for the third straight season in 2005-06 and has missed only one game in his last four seasons.
