Gabriel Bourque A.J. Greer

CENTENNIAL, Colo.--The Colorado Avalanche recalled forwards Gabriel Bourque and A.J. Greer from the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage on Sunday, providing reinforcement to a banged up lineup.
Bourque and Greer will essentially replace injured centers J.T. Compher and Tyson Jost on the Avs roster. Compher is out indefinitely with a broken thumb after attempting to block a shot in the Avs' loss to the St. Louis Blues on Thursday, and Jost is set to miss 2-3 weeks with a lower-body injury that he suffered in the same contest. Both players have been placed on injured reserve.

Colorado head coach Jared Bednar said after Friday's practice that the team was going to look at how some of their prospects performed during the Rampage's games on Friday and Saturday night before deciding on who to recall.
San Antonio was scheduled to play three games in three days against the Texas Stars this weekend, with the clubs completing the series with a Sunday matinee in San Antonio. The Rampage took the first two outings, winning 3-2 in a shootout on Friday and 6-1 on Saturday.
Neither forward played in Sunday's contest.
Both Bourque and Greer were two of the final cuts prior to the Avalanche setting its opening-night roster. Bourque had an assist in four preseason contests, while Greer only appeared in one game. Greer suffered a concussion in that lone contest on Sept. 21 versus the Dallas Stars and missed the rest of training camp.
With San Antonio, Bourque played in each of the club's first five games to begin the year and had recorded a goal and an assist. Greer, who was still recovering from his preseason injury and missed the first two weeks of the AHL campaign, had points in the first two outings this weekend against Texas, registering an assist both nights.
The Avalanche has one more player on its injured list, with defenseman Patrik Nemeth out with a lower-body injury.
Nemeth also got hurt versus St. Louis on Thursday after just returning to game action following a shoulder injury. However, it doesn't appear as if Nemeth will miss any contests as Bednar said he is hopeful the blueliner will play in the Avs' next game on Tuesday against Dallas.
Colorado is in a stretch of having four days between outings and held an hour-long practice at Family Sports Center on Sunday morning after giving the players an off day on Saturday. The Avs had 17 skaters during the on-ice session, with a focus placed on skill work.
Bourque and Greer are expected to join the team for its practice on Monday.
