UCHealth Avalanche Weekly Update

Avalanche Notes

SHOOTOUT SATURDAY: Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks marked Colorado's first of the season that needed a shootout to determine a victor. The Avalanche was 4-0 in the skills competition last season-the league's only unbeaten team-and had won nine consecutive shootouts prior to Saturday's shootout loss. The nine straight shootout victories was one shy of a franchise record set March 19, 2011 to Jan. 2, 2012.
CLOSE GAMES: The Avalanche is now 3-1 in overtime this season and 7-2-1 in one-goal games.

Quotable

"I think most of [recovery] is what you do at home. I've learned that quickly over my three years, try to take care of yourself. I just laid on the couch all day. I didn't leave the house, just making sure I'd feel good today. You don't get much rest, especially with the schedule in November here. It's been crazy. Every game is huge. We're trying to push for the playoffs today, and I think everybody's pretty mature in taking care of themselves." - Colorado forward Nathan MacKinnon on taking Sunday off to rest after falling and sliding into the boards at full speed in Colorado's game against the Canucks on Saturday
