The Colorado Avalanche will play in seven nationally televised games in the U.S. next season after NBC Sports Group announced earlier today its broadcast schedule for the 2014-15 campaign.
Colorado will open its 19th season in Denver on Oct. 9 at the Minnesota Wild, a 2014 Stanley Cup Playoff rematch that audiences across the United States can watch on NBCSN. All seven national games will be televised on NBCSN.
In the other six games, the Avalanche will play the St. Louis Blues and Los Angeles Kings twice each, while also facing off against the Detroit Red Wings and San Jose Sharks. Colorado will play St. Louis at home on Dec. 23 and on the road on Jan. 19 and face the defending Stanley Cup champion Kings at Pepsi Center on Feb. 18 and March 10. The Avs will play at home in the meeting against the Red Wings on Feb. 5 and on the road in San Jose on April 1.
Colorado's games on Feb. 18 versus Los Angeles and April 1 in San Jose will be part of NBCSN's exclusive window on Wednesday nights and the nightcap of back-to-back games by the network.
NBC Sports Group will deliver coverage of 103 NHL regular-season games during the 2014-15 season, featuring 14 games on NBC and 89 games on NBCSN. All games will be streamed live via NBC Sports Live Extra.
In addition, the NHL also released new dates and times for several 2014-15 contests, including two games involving the Avalanche. Colorado's season opener at Minnesota on Oct. 9 will now begin at 7 p.m. MT (previously 6:30 p.m. MT), and its Feb. 22 home game versus Tampa Bay is now set to start at 5 p.m. MT (previously 4 p.m. MT).
