A native of Magnitogorsk, Russia, Shvyrev split the 2016-17 season between his hometown Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL and Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk of the MHL, a junior club.
The 18-year-old recorded 70 points (21 goals, 49 assists) in 40 games in the MHL, and he added another three points (two goals, one assist) in five postseason contests. Additionally, Shvyrev played 10 games with the KHL parent squad.
The 6-foot, 205-pound forward was named MHL Forward of the Month for his efforts in February.
He spent the majority of the 2015-16 season with Stalnye Lisy, where he accrued 38 points (12 goals, 26 assists) in 44 games during his first year with the team.
Shvyrev skated with the Russian national team at the the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament, where he won a bronze medal. He had one assist in five contests at the event.
