by Staff Writer / Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Kyle Cumiskey from the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.  In addition, the Avalanche has also activated forward Ian Laperriere off the Injured Reserve list.

Cumiskey, 22, is being recalled for the fourth time this season.  He joins the Avalanche after competing in the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic on Monday night in Worcester, Mass. Cumiskey had a goal, assist and was +6 for the Canadian All-Stars, who fell 14-11 to PlanetUSA.  Cumiskey leads all Monsters defensemen in goals (5), assists (12) and points (17), while appearing in 28 games.  He has dressed in five games for Colorado in 2008-09 (no points).

Laperriere has missed the last eight games after leaving in the third period on Jan. 4 vs. Minnesota due to a back injury.  He was placed on IR, Jan. 17 (retroactive to Jan. 4).  Laperriere, 35, has recorded 13 points (4g/9a) and is a team-best +5 in 39 games for the Avalanche this season.
