The rest of the players had an off-ice workout and meetings, as the club is expected to have a full practice on Thursday. Next up for Colorado is a back-to-back set against two division opponents beginning on Friday at the St. Louis Blues.
"They're going to play hard, so we've got to be on our top game there when we get into St. Louis," said defenseman Patrik Nemeth about the upcoming outing. "It's a tough building to play in, so we have to get ready for that. I think we've identified some of the struggles, so we should be ready to go on Friday."
The two-day break is an opportunity for the team to rest, regroup and identify strategies for improvement following Tuesday's loss.
"I think you go through ups and downs during the season," Nemeth said. "We just had an 11-game stretch where we had points in. There's always going to be stretches where you struggle."
Defensemen Conor Timmins (concussion) and Mark Barberio (upper-body injury) shot pucks and skated on their own beforehand but didn't practice with the club. They participated in drills with the Avs' coaching staff while wearing red, non-contact jerseys.
