Avs' Charity Brunch Raises Over $95,000

by Staff Writer / Colorado Avalanche
The annual Colorado Avalanche Charity Brunch, hosted by the Avs Better Halves, was held today at the Marriott City Center in downtown Denver. The sold-out event raised in excess of $95,000 for local children’s charities.

This annual heart-warming event also included a silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind gift baskets filled with Avalanche players’ “favorite things” and a buffet brunch served by Avalanche players and coaches. The day’s highlight was the fashion show pairing Avalanche players and coaches with special Ambassadors from The Children’s Hospital. Since 1997, the Colorado Avalanche Charity Brunch alone has raised over $600,000 for local children’s charities.

“This is one of the most anticipated charitable events each year,” said Deb Dowling, Vice President of Community Relations for Kroenke Sports Enterprises. “The connection between the Avalanche players, coaches and the kids from The Children’s Hospital is always unique and very special. The involvement and generosity of our sponsors and fans made this a very successful fundraiser.”

Since 1995, the Colorado Avalanche Charity Fund has made donations in excess of $11.5 million to local charities that promote the health and welfare of children and families throughout Colorado. The Colorado Avalanche Charity Fund, part of the Kroenke Sports Charities, was recognized nationally in 2001 for its philanthropic endeavors.
