Avs In The Community

On Monday afternoon, Sven Andrighetto and Mark Barberio joined Avalanche strength and conditioning coach Casey Bond to provide 50 students from Kemp Elementary School with principles of healthy eating and overall wellness. The students also participated in a fitness session with the players, including a variety of agility, cardio and biometric stations.

Player Spotlight: Tyson Barrie

Barrie recorded his 200th NHL point against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday, becoming the sixth defenseman in franchise history to reach the milestone. He leads all Avalanche defensemen in points (9) and assists (7) and is tied for ninth among NHL blueliners in points. He also had a career-high six-game point streak from Oct. 11-24, the longest by an Avalanche defenseman since Kevin Shattenkirk's nine-game run from Nov. 17 to Dec. 4, 2010.

Quotable

"We have to take the home-ice advantage. We know how to play here. The fans are coming out here, so we have to play for them, too. I think we have done well so far, and now we just have to keep playing like that." - Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen on Colorado's strong performance at home this season
