Colorado finishes up homestand before bye week

Hejduk's No. 23 Gets Raised To The Rafters

Milan Hejduk's jersey will be raised to the rafters in a pregame ceremony when the Avalanche hosts the Minnesota Wild on Jan. 6. Hejduk's No. 23 will be the sixth sweater number retired in the history of the Colorado Avalanche, joining Joe Sakic (#19), Peter Forsberg (#21), Patrick Roy (#33), Adam Foote (#52) and Ray Bourque (#77).

Hejduk, 41, played all 14 of his NHL seasons with the Avalanche and was a member of the 2001 Stanley Cup championship team. He finished his career with 375 goals and 805 points in 1,020 games. He captured the franchise's first-ever Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as the NHL's leading goal scorer in 2002-03.

Tuesday, January 2 vs. Winnipeg Jets

Pepsi Center, 7 p.m. MT, TV: Altitude, Radio: 950 AM

The Avalanche plays its first game of 2018 against the Central Division-leading Winnipeg Jets, the second of four matchups this season. Colorado won the first meeting, 3-2 in overtime on Nov. 29 at Pepsi Center.

Thursday, January 4 vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

Pepsi Center, 7 p.m. MT, TV: Altitude, Radio: 950 AM

Columbus makes its only trip to the Mile High City on Thursday, the first of four contests for the Avs against an Eastern Conference opponent in January. Colorado was 1-1-0 against the Blue Jackets last season.

Saturday, January 6 vs. Minnesota Wild

Pepsi Center, 7 p.m. MT, TV: Altitude, Radio: 950 AM

The Avalanche wraps up its season-long, six-game homestand against the division-rival Minnesota Wild. It's the second of four matchups between the teams this season. The Wild won the first one, 3-2 in a shootout on Nov. 24 at Xcel Energy Center.

Saturday, January 13 at Dallas Stars

American Airlines Arena, 7 p.m. MT, TV: Alt 2, Radio: 92.5 FM

Colorado returns from its mandatory five-day bye week and will face the Dallas Stars for the fifth and final time of the 2017-18 campaign. The Avs are 2-2-0 against Dallas this season.

Monday, January 15 vs. Anaheim Ducks

Pepsi Center, 1 p.m. MT, TV: Altitude, Radio: 950 AM

Colorado hosts the Ducks in the second of three matchups between the dlubs this season. The Avs won 3-1 on Oct. 13 and will play in Anaheim on April 1 to close out the 2017-18 series.

Player Spotlight: Carl Soderberg

Soderberg registered his first career multi-goal game against the Arizona Coyotes on Dec. 23 and had another multi-point night against the Islanders on Sunday, notching a goal and an assist. He finished the month of December with nine points (four goals, five assists), which ranks fourth on the team for the month.
