A.J. Greer Anaheim Ducks 2018 January 15

After being recalled by the Colorado Avalanche on Monday, forward A.J. Greer will play his second NHL game of the season tonight against the Edmonton Oilers.
He has 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) through 20 outings with the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League this campaign. Over the last three seasons, Greer has played 23 contests with the Avalanche. He appeared in his lone outing this year on Nov. 2 at the Vancouver Canucks.

"I think he is playing the best hockey of his career down there… He is an impact player down there right now," head coach Jared Bednar said of Greer. "Playing with lots of energy, he is physical, he's getting on pucks, he is going hard to the net. When we are thinking about call-ups, we want to reward someone who is doing all the right things and is playing real well and certainly for him that is the case in this situation."
The 21-year-old will play on a line with Colin Wilson and Gabriel Bourque against Edmonton. Goaltender Semyon Varlamov will get the start in net.
Below is the Avalanche's projected lineup. The forward combinations and defensive pairings are subject to change.
