The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced Tuesday the signing of forward Victor Oreskovich to an entry-level contract.
“His performance last season demonstrates his continued progress as a prospect in our system,” said Avalanche Assistant General Manager Greg Sherman.
The 20-year old native of Whitby, Ontario was the club’s second selection (55th overall) at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. The 6’3”, 215-pound forward played his previous two seasons with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League. He averaged nearly a point-per-game during a breakout campaign in 2006-07, recording 28 goals and 32 assists for 60 points in 62 contests.
Drafted following his freshman season at Notre Dame University where he played in 37 of 38 games, Oreskovich joined the Kitchener Rangers in November of 2005. Among his other career highlights include playing in the 2004 USHL All-Star Game and being named the Ontario Hockey Association’s Top Prospect in 2003.
