Avalanche Signs Anderson, Barron

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed defenseman Josh Anderson and forward Travis Barronto three-year, entry-level contracts.

Anderson, 19, has played the last four seasons in the Western Hockey League, totaling 35 points (9g, 26a) in 206 career games with the Prince George Cougars and the Swift Current Broncos. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound blueliner notched seven points (1g, 6a) in 25 games with Prince George in 2017-18 before being traded to Swift Current, where he registered seven points (2g, 5a) and a +8 plus-minus rating in 29 contests.
Anderson has one point (0g, 1a) through the first four games of Swift Current's first-round WHL playoff series against the Regina Pats.
The Nanaimo, British Columbia, native was drafted by the Avalanche in the third round (71st overall) in the 2016 NHL Draft.

Barron, 19, concluded his fourth season with the Ontario Hockey League's Ottawa 67's and his second season as the club's captain. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound center finished the 2017-18 campaign with a career-high 57 points (21g, 36a) in 67 games, ranking third on the team in assists and points.
The Belfountain, Ontario, native has collected four points (1g, 3a) through the first four contests of Ottawa's first-round playoff series against the Hamilton Bulldogs. He has totaled 149 points (59g, 90a) in 250 career OHL contests, including 13 points (5g, 8a) in 19 postseason outings.
Barron was selected by the Avalanche in the seventh round (191st overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft.
