2019 NHL Draft general inside arena scene

The Colorado Avalanche owns the No. 25 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft, the league announced on Tuesday.
Colorado currently has six selections in this year's draft, with one each in also the third (No. 75), fourth (No. 118), fifth (No. 149), sixth (No. 167) and seventh rounds (No. 211). The first round of 2020 NHL Draft is on Tuesday, Oct. 6, while rounds 2-7 will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
With the 25th pick, it is the latest the Avalanche has chosen in the first round since picking Jonas Johansson at No. 28 overall in the 2002 entry draft.

Colorado has chosen 25th overall three previous times in its franchise history, all of which have occurred since the team moved to Denver in 1995. The Avs selected goaltender Marc Denis in 1995, defenseman Peter Ratchuk in 1996 and forward Mikhail Kuleshov in 1999.
The Avalanche presently has its own first, fourth, fifth and seventh-round selections, the Toronto Maple Leafs' third-round pick and the Florida Panthers' sixth rounder.
The team acquired Toronto's third-round selection in a July 1, 2019 trade that also included Nazem Kadri and Calle Rosen in exchange for Colorado's 2020 sixth-round pick (No. 180), Tyson Barrie and Alexander Kerfoot.
The sixth-round selection from Florida was part of the trade in acquiring Derick Brassard on Feb. 25, 2019. The club also sent its 2020 third-round pick (No. 87) to the Panthers as part of that deal.
Colorado sent its own second-round selection (No. 56), Arizona's 2020 third-round pick (No. 80, previously acquired along with Kevin Connauton for Carl Soderberg) and Scott Kosmachuk to the Washington Capitals on June 28, 2019 in exchange for Andre Burakovsky.
This year's draft will be held virtually over the two days. Round 1 on Oct. 6 will begin at 5 p.m. MT and will be televised nationally on NBCSN in the United States and Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada. NHL Network and Sportsnet will have coverage on the second day beginning at 9:30 a.m. MT.
