Avalanche Recalls Weiman

by Staff Writer / Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has recalled goaltender Tyler Weiman from the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.  Weiman will be available for tonight’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes at Pepsi Center (7:00 p.m., Altitude TV).

Weiman, 25, has appeared in six games for the Monsters this season, posting a 3-3-0 record with a 2.16 goals-against average and .916 save percentage.  He is coming off his first shutout of the season, as he stopped all 27 shots in a 1-0 victory at Houston on Wednesday.

Colorado’s sixth selection (fifth round, 164th overall) in the 2002 Entry Draft, Weiman led the AHL with eight shutouts in 44 games with Lake Erie in 2008-09.  He has appeared in one NHL game during his career, stopping all 10 shots he faced in relief on Oct. 4, 2007 at Nashville.

In related news, Peter Budaj will miss tonight’s game because of the flu.
