Avalanche Play Of The Week Winner

by Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
A tic-tac-toe passing play that involved four Colorado players was named the Avalanche Play of the Week for the Dec. 3-9 timeframe.

The winning play, which ended in a Paul Stastny goal, earned 56.01% of fan votes. It beat out a John-Michael Liles defensive play (24.56%) and a Stastny pass that set up a Liles tally (19.43%).

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Tic-Tac-Toe Passing – 12/4 @ Tampa Bay
Four of the five Avalanche players on the ice made nice passes that led to this tally. Paul Stastny started it with a stretch pass from his defensive blue line to Tomas Fleischmann just outside the offensive zone. Fleischmann turned and shot a feed over to Milan Hejduk, who quickly shoveled it to Kevin Shattenkirk. The rookie blueliner then one-touched the puck across the low slot to Stastny, who quickly deposited it past Dan Ellis for the goal.
