Avalanche Play of the Week - Oct. 24-30

by - Official Site of the Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche is offering fans a new way to get in the game this year. Your voice will be heard in selecting Colorado’s “Play of the Week” each week during the season.

We’ll offer up three choices, and you choose the top play by voting on the poll on the homepage of At the end of the season, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine – once again, through fan voting – the Avalanche’s “Play of the Year”.

Check out this week’s three nominees, and be sure to vote for your favorite by Monday at 12:00 p.m. MT.

Leopold Sends it to OT – 10/25 vs. Buffalo
Avalanche defenseman Jordan Leopold scored Colorado’s lone goal during regulation on Saturday against Buffalo. Leopold’s blast from the blue line bounced off a Buffalo defender before finding the back of the net at 13:36 of the third period.


Smyth Ends Shootout – 10/25 vs. Buffalo
Ryan Smyth put a cap on Colorado’s 2-1 victory over Buffalo with this shootout goal. With the shootout tied, 2-2, Smyth skated in and beat Sabres’ goaltender Ryan Miller with a forehand to lead the Avs to victory.


Arnason Tucks One In - 10/30 vs. Columbus
Tyler Arnason recorded his second goal of the season Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The center corralled the puck behind the Columbus goal and quickly tucked the puck past Fredrik Norrena for a power-play tally at 18:33 of the third period.
