Duchene Ties It Late – 10/26 @ Vancouver
The Avalanche pulled Peter Budaj late in the third period against Vancouver, trailing by a 3-2 score. With the extra attacker on, Milan Hejduk
gained control of the puck in the right circle and held it for an extra second before finding a cutting Matt Duchene
in the low slot. Duchene put a wrister past Roberto Luongo to tie the game with 1:33 remaining in regulation. Stewart Breaks Free – 10/28 @ Calgary
Chris Stewart recorded his second career hat trick in a 6-5 win over the Flames, with this goal serving as his second of the game. After some hard work along the half wall, Ryan O’Reilly caused a Calgary turnover and sent the puck to Stewart in the slot. From there, Stewart skated in alone and beat Flames netminder Henrik Karlsson with a wrist shot. In It To Winnik – 10/28 @ Calgary
Against the Flames, Daniel Winnik scored the biggest goal of his brief tenure with the Avalanche. Colorado and Calgary were at the tail end of a slugfest, tied at 5-5 late in the third period when the forward netted the game-winner. After crisscrossing with Ryan O’Reilly at the blue line, Winnik grabbed the rebound of his teammate’s shot and deposited the puck into the back of the net to give Colorado a 6-5 victory.
