Avalanche Play of the Week: Nov. 27-Dec. 3

by - Official Site of the Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche is asking for your help in determining the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" each week during the regular season. At the end of the year, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine, via fan voting, the Avalanche's "Play of the Year."

Goals by Matt Duchene and T.J. Galiardi, along with a big hit by Kyle Quincey, are this week's nominees.

Voting ends on Monday, Dec. 6 at 3:00 p.m. MT, so be sure to cast your ballot today!

Quincey Flips Stamkos – 11/30 @ Tampa Bay
Defenseman Kyle Quincey sent Lightning forward Steve Stamkos flying end-over-end into his own bench with this hip check. As if the hit itself wasn’t big enough, the Lightning also received a penalty for too many men on the ice because Stamkos jumped back into the play even though a teammate had already hopped on to replace him.

Duchene’s Mid-Air Tip – 11/30 @ Tampa Bay
Matt Duchene’s power-play goal in the second period – his second tally of the game – gave Colorado a 2-0 cushion against Tampa Bay. Heading toward the net, Duchene attempted one shot that was stopped by Antero Niittymaki. Sticking with the play, the rookie knocked home his own rebound out of mid-air.

Galiardi’s Tying Goal – 12/2 @ Florida
Rookie T.J. Galiardi scored with just 16 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the Avalanche and Panthers at 5-5, completing a two-goal comeback in the final minute of the third period. During a hectic scramble, Paul Stastny sent a backhand pass to the front of the net, where Galiardi poked it in for his second goal of the season.
